Cybersecurity is becoming an increasingly integral part of everyday life. In this context, the escalating level of “interconnectedness” simultaneously increases vulnerabilities, making every structure and system, from human rights to critical infrastructures vital for national security, susceptible to exploitation. In all infrastructures where the reflections of digitalization are visible at every level, especially systems termed as critical infrastructures, which form the backbone of the modern economy – such as energy, telecommunications, health, and transportation systems – are becoming more vulnerable to cyber attacks day by day.
Within the framework of the changing and transforming threat environment, Kadir Has University Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Protection Application and Research Center (KHAS_CCIP) focuses on studies in the field of critical infrastructure security and especially works on Industrial Control Systems (ICS) security, which is one of the most important components of critical infrastructures. The center aims to be an information and application center for Turkey and nearby geographies with its work within the framework of the security of critical infrastructures.
Conducting interdisciplinary studies, KHAS_CCIP aims to bring non-traditional and innovative approaches based on machine learning, big data and artificial intelligence to cyber security research and applications. In addition, the Center attaches great importance to the training of manpower as the “weakest link” of cyber security.
Achieving scientific excellence is one of the primary goals of KHAS_CCIP. In this context, the activities of the center are to produce solutions for the industrial and scientific communities, to provide training especially for young researchers and professionals, and to support studies on capacity building and knowledge sharing.
