Kadir Has University continues to innovate with its cybersecurity master’s program. According to the projections of the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the workforce needed in the field of cyber security will grow. At IDC’s Cyber Security Summit held in Istanbul in February 2018, it was stated that the number of cyber security experts needed worldwide today is 1,200,000. Today, the annual need for experts in the field of cyber security is higher than the total of all computer and electrical-electronics engineer graduates. All experts agree that this need, far from stopping, will increase exponentially every day.
On the one hand, commerce has moved/shifted to the electronic environment to a great extent (Amazon and Alibaba examples), on the other hand, social media platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, etc.) have become indispensable for people, all services provided by the state are moving to the electronic environment, municipal services are moving to the electronic environment. In an environment where the world is becoming increasingly electronic, there will inevitably be an increase in malicious people. For this reason, the need for data and information security experts and cyber security experts for all kinds of institutions/organizations and companies, large and small, is increasing.

Cities are becoming increasingly “smart” with electronic services, the spread of applications in the field of Internet of Things (IoT), the proliferation of industrial control systems and SCADA systems in national critical infrastructures, and the dizzying increase in digitalization in transportation and communications, making systems more exposed to attacks. For this reason, the need for cybersecurity experts will increase even more.
